Posted at November 14, 2004, 4:01 pm: My son and I just bought some really nice things in a deep discount place to put on Ebay for sale, when I discovered that I would need to have a digital camera (for good pictures...poloroids don't work), and my computer is just not new enough to handle the software......it's old and a laptop, so upgrading is just too expensive. I thought about buying one of those Gateway desktop computers from a tv site...but, I am in bed so much due to all of my disabilities, I am afraid I can't sit long enough at the screen to justify buying the desktop. I bought this laptop used from a man who went out of business, right before I was disabled, five years ago. I just cannot afford what they want for a laptop. How am I supposed to earn extra (much needed) cash, if I can't buy a refurbished or new computer???? I feel like crying. After all of our work and money to buy all of that stuff for the Ebay auction...now I don't think we can do it. I called the local Ebay rep. and the fee to give it to him to put on Ebay, plus the fees associated with listing the items.....what's the point? I won't make much. I have no credit, and probably can't get any. I used to have a great paying job as a paralegal, but when I mean I got sick fast.....I mean fast! This hit me out of the blue, and my doctors didn't even know what was wrong for months. I have five disabling conditions. The only real thing I can still do besides talk on the phone, is type for short periods........I've looked everywhere for help, and believe me there isn't any out there. How do you buy a computer from tv, and spend 1/3 of your SSD on it, for five or six months, and still be able eat, pay your bills, and buy more things to put on Ebay? If you know, please tell me. Sorry to complain, but since I got sick, it has been a nightmare for me.
