Yahoo! to Close Major European Auction Sites
Reuters is reporting this morning that Yahoo! will close its primary auction sites across Europe because it could not attract enough users to allow it to charge fees. eBay chose not to purchase Yahoo!'s auction assets. Yahoo! struck a multi-year, multi-million euro deal with eBay in which eBay will advertise heavily on Yahoo!. eBay's biggest competitor in Europe will remain QXL ricardo.
