Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: Sellers don't use Ebay because Ebay is the only place to have inventory listed, or the cheapest place. What Ebay delivers is a large and extremely diverse group of buyers. There is more to running a successful ecommerce site than having your stuff hosted. Advertising isn't cheap -- especially good advertising. IMO, Ebay sellers are paying for more than simple hosting. If Ebay works for any particular business, the seller uses it without feeling that they have been "duped". I just don't understand this constant bashing...if Ebay doesn't fit your business plan, do something else. Jana You have been duped. Sellers pay for that advertising 100 times over. Along with eBay's acquisitions of PayPal, Half.com, Rent.com And along with eBay's startups and acquistions in India, China, U.K., Europe, etc. And what does eBay do in return. They increase their fees and take a bigger piece of the profits, while their sellthru rates and selling prices continue to decline. Sellers don't need you to tell them to "do something else". You can stick eBay up your a$$.
