Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: Thanks for your kind words. Your statement indicates you have a lot of experience on the Internet and/or have been a quick study of Internet Auction dynamics. Niche auctions are indeed the future. I see a day when Ebay will have to downsize because it is not efficient. It is too big now to properly manage itself. Customers can also see it is more geared towards massive profit than building an Institution. Smaller venues that specialize in certain categories can offer better products and support. They can also take a more active role in anti-fraud issues. How does ebay know a 1st Century Denarius is fake or over graded? They don't know anything about the seller or his product and don't have the structure to investigate it. They claim they are just a venue, but their actions indicate it is a free for all. You are right on the mark with the traffic and payer issue as well. I don't have a million customers, but I can get a million hits because I have quality traffic. Also, prices realized on our site are higher than ebay's because we have an aggressive anti-fraud commitment for both bidders and sellers. Customers know their complaints will be handled. sterlingbidz.com has turned away many sellers because we felt their listing practices were not in line with our venue. It’s not about just growing. It is about growing with integrity. To do that, you can't cut corners.
