Perhaps if QXL had some money, they could have made a deal with Yahoo instead of eBay. Sounds like QXL could use the help.

Yahoo is trying to focus more, and it may be a good thing. Auctions may be too much of a distraction, and it certainly cost them problems in France with the Nazi memorabilia legal issues.

Would you say part of the issue of online auctions not taking off in Europe is cultural? Or is it that in North America, there is the advantage a huge potential user base sharing one language and one currency? (Canada has two languages and a different currency, but Canadian users seem to be quite used to dealing with U.S.-Canada transactions.)
