Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: I've been on all the online antiques/collectibles malls (except one) and from my experience I've learned to look out for things I wish to avoid in the process of setting up an online shop/store. One of these is the establishment of a core group of 'founding members' who assist the site owner(s) in setting up the site to their preferences and advantage. Based on the first post of this thread, which hinted at information (special intro offer) which was not clearly displayed or explained on the 51 Estates site itself, my alarum bells rang loudly And then this, from another post here on Auction Bytes: "Mall chasing" anyone? And there's the drag for all the habitual new mall seekers to follow. Tally ho!!! All sarcastic humor aside, the above is an exellent reason to invest in the time and money in setting up/maintaining your own site, IMO. No sophisticated business owner wants to pay twice as much as their competition for a service which is not so unique as to be unobtainable elsewhere. But good luck with your venture -- I am sure there are many gals (and a few guys) here on AB who will be pleased with the opportunity offered above. I'll be watching to see what develops.
